Description

The atraumatic extraction system that greatly reduces extraction time and saves bone!

The iM3 Vet-tome® is a major advancement in tooth extraction.

The patented Vet-Tome is an automated periotome with foot pedal operation that offers precise tooth extraction with minimal or no alveolar bone loss and less trauma. The electric Vet-Tome uses ultra-thin (flexible) stainless steel tips/blades coupled with the mechanical in and out action generated by the handpiece to cut the periodontal ligament. The mechanical action and thin flexible blade allows easy insertion into the periodontal ligament (PDL) space and alveolus (tooth socket) coupled with the side to side movement by the operator cuts the PDL. Unlike other luxator periotomes suitable for human teeth the Vet-Tome tips are fine and flexible allowing easy insertion into the PDL whilst the tip follows the curve of the canine tooth root.

  • Ultra-thin tips allow easy insertion into the periodontal ligament space on all canine and feline teeth.
  • The flexible tips bend (unlike rigid tips) and follow the curve of the root, the tip (40 mm long) will reach the apex of most canine teeth, making it ideal for canine extraction.
  • The mechanical in and out action of the tip generated by the electric handpiece advances the tip into the PDL, reducing the physical work normally associated with extractions.
  • The non-twisting action of the Vet-Tome results in minimal tissue damage (see video below) compared to units that oscillate or use vibration.
  • The Vet-Tome tip does not generate heat.
  • Ten adjustable power settings and different sized veterinary specific tips for everything from small cats to large dogs, even lions.
  • The Vet-Tome operates independently from your air driven dental unit allowing both units to function at the same time, increasing overall dental efficiencies.
  • Educational extraction videos performed by Dr Anthony Caiafa BVSc BDSc MANZCVS are supplied with the system.

Supplied with two standard flat and two heavy stainless steel replaceable tips.

This kit has revolutionised dentals in our busy first opinion and multi-disciplinary referral practice. Dentals, especially with multiple extractions, haven’t always been top of our “I’m desperate to do” list! The new Vet-Tome has been fantastic for us. Today, I had a severe gingivo-stomatitis cat booked in for multiple extractions. I had been dreading the procedure - but it was a dream, and so much less traumatic for the patient: full unilateral cheek-teeth extraction (upper and lower jaw) and all incisors today in under an hour; no fractured teeth, no need to create gingival flaps. All-in-all a pleasure to do. I’m looking forward to doing the other side in a couple of weeks. We are delighted. Really reduced operating time for us, and increased therefore patient safety. A win-win.

    I love my Vet-Tome!

I love my Vet-Tome! My extractions are more elegant and less stressful. With the aid of a thin blade the Vet-Tome cuts the periodontal ligament allowing me to get most teeth out with minimal trauma.

The Vet-Tome has been a revelation

Posted by Nigel Misselbrook BVSc MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon, Director at Chase View Veterinary Clinic, UK on 27th Jun 2022

The Vet-Tome has been a revelation. My first case was a young farm collie that had fractured all four canines. After a brief look at the instructions I was able to extract each tooth in less than ten minutes with minimal effort and no bone damage on the post-op radiographs. My veterinary nurse commented on my good humour which is a first when doing a dental. Since then my colleagues and I have gained more confidence using the two sizes of tips on other teeth in dogs and cats. We rarely do a surgical extraction now with obvious benefits for the patients. The dread of difficult extractions has gone and we almost enjoy a morning of dentals.

    It is an absolute revolution

Posted by Dr Nick Taylor BVSc(Hons) GPCert(SAP) Dip. Mgt. ESVPS MRCVS (N7011) on 27th Jun 2022

Our Vet-Tome arrived yesterday and we had occasion to use it across two of our four dental surgeries today. Both occasions unexpectedly. It is an absolute revolution. In under 60 minutes I extracted over 20 teeth including 4 canines without gingival flaps or osseous burring using the most conservative of settings and no experience of the device. I am certain that in one case it saved me over an hour of awkward mandibular flap creation and burring to remove two lower canines with roots extending all the way to Hades. No extraneous gingival trauma, easy closures and a patient freed from awful dental trauma. Today, with the Vet-Tome, I had one of the most satisfying professional experiences of my career! Thank you.

    Greatly improved my ability to...

I ordered one of these soon after they became available in the US. About 3 years ago as of this writing. There is a learning curve, but it is fairly intuitive. It has greatly improved my ability to extract lower canines, and other deep-rooted teeth, even in situations where the bone is fragile.

    A fantastic bit of equipment

Posted by David Hughes on 6th Jun 2019

We have owned the iM3 Vet-Tome for 8 months and it’s a fantastic bit of equipment – personally I think not buying one is pretty foolish. Major extractions are so much quicker and less traumatic – the Vet-Tome is very affordable and pays for itself within a matter of weeks. Combined with the iM3 dental X-Ray – the Vet-tome really has changed dentals for the better at Concord Veterinary Hospital. Canine removals including lower canines, cat full mouth extractions, tooth root abscesses on dog upper premolars – all so much easier with the Vet-Tome. iM3 have been great in giving us tips on how to use the machine for better results. Almost gone are the days of dental elevators! I would not hesitate to purchase the Vet-Tome – I just wish we had it 5 – 10 years ago when my own pet needed major dental work.

    ...much faster with the Vet-Tome

Posted by Elizabeth Brine on 4th Feb 2019

I like the fact that the Vet-Tome allows surgical extractions with less tissue removal; no need for a large amount of alveolar bone removal or to create large mucoperiosteal flaps. Surgical extraction of mandibular canine teeth is much faster with the Vet-Tome than without.

    Great addition to our practice

IM3s Vet-Tome has been a great addition to our practice. It allows increased extraction efficiency with less bone removal.
